About two thousand volunteers stood with Manna on Main Street in Lansdale Sunday as the community service organization moved food into its new headquarters in North Penn Commons.

The non-perishable canned goods, pasta products and cereals were passed by hand along a human chain stretching from Memorial Park and up East Main Street before ending in the commons campus. Manna volunteer Britt Peterson was the last link in the chain.

“I’m the Food Resource Manager so I’m the one who deals with the food here at Manna. So I’m here to take it into our new location from our old location.”

The community service event was a family affair for Lansdale resident Dawn Heisey.

“Our church youth group signed up and so some of our kids signed up with the rest of our family, teaching them to give back and to serve.”

Manna will do the big move from its current location on West Main Street into North Penn Commons starting next

Monday and services will not be available while its location is in transition next week.

A big THANK YOU to everyone who came out to join us for the Human Chain (of Caring)! We moved roughly 1,200 pieces of food with the help of about 1,000 people. We are so grateful for all of your help and support (and that the rained stayed away!).
