Is there a minimum age?

  • Volunteers age 13 and older: May join any shift in which they are serving WITH their parent or guardian, who must also be a registered and scheduled volunteer.
  • Volunteers age 14 and older: May volunteer on their own ONLY in non-client facing positions, including To-go Meals Production and Sorting + Stocking.
  • Volunteers age 15 and older: May volunteer for any open shift.
  • Groups: All volunteers must be at least 13 years old, with minimum of 2 volunteers 16+, one of whom must be 18+.

When I come to volunteer, can I bring a friend or family member?

Only if that friend or family member has also signed up for an open spot through Manna’s volunteer signup process and reviewed the health policies. We have limited space due to social distancing and have little flexibility on how many volunteers can safely be on site at once, so it’s critical that we have an accurate headcount.

Can I complete my required community service hours at Manna?

Yes! Community service is welcome at Manna, whether school- or court-driven. You are responsible for keeping track of your service hours. Requirements are in the volunteer handbook, but generally we recommend allowing at least 5-7 business days to receive your verification letter after completing your service. This will ensure we are able to meet your deadline.

Please note: for court-ordered service, you are required to submit documentation prior to beginning service that indicates the charge, the hours required, and the date by which you need them completed. We are not able to accept volunteers who have a record of any of the following offenses:

What should I wear to volunteer?

For your safety, closed toe shoes are required. As you will be either in food service or food distribution, we encourage you to wear comfortable clothing that can get messy. Any long hair must be tied back or secured under a hat.
